What the inspection can examine here

  • The heating plant and any central air — operated in normal mode, dated from the data plate, with the flue and clearances looked at where accessible.
  • The garage — the door, its opener safety reverse, and the fire separation between the garage and the house.
  • Kitchen plumbing, GFCI protection and the built-in appliances, run through their normal cycles.
  • Radon — a separate, optional test arranged alongside the inspection.

Photographs from Far Rockaway reports

Brick chimney top with a cracked concrete cap and several mortar joints traced in red, a red arrow at the upper right.
The cement chimney cap is cracked and the brickwork needs to be pointed from the roofline up. Lou recommended evaluation and repair by a licensed brick mason contractor.
Top of an American Standard water heater with a flue elbow and a valve, two red arrows pointing at the valve and the wall behind.
The TPR valve on the water heater is installed in the wrong port and has no pipe extension. Lou recommended evaluation and repair by a licensed plumbing contractor.
Edge of a brick garage roof beside trees with red lines tracing the roof edge where a gutter would run and a red arrow.
No leader and gutter system on this roof edge; the red lines trace the eave where a gutter would run and the arrow marks the corner.

All three photographs are from Lou's own Far Rockaway inspection reports, chosen because they show a building component and nothing that identifies a property or an owner.
